Friday Five from Dallas-Fort Worth

1.  Lucky, lucky you.  S and I are stuck in Dallas for 3 hours, so you get a Friday afternoon blog post.  Why are we here for so long?  I couldn't book us on the 2:40 flight to Jackson, for some reason, back in November.  We're ticketed for the 4:45, hour and twenty minute shuttle.  We were here in plenty of time to make the 2:40 flight, but American Airlines (unlike Alaska Airlines, love you Alaska) won't move us for free, even though there are tons of seats on the 2:40 plane.

Ridiculous!

2.  Wednesday, I ran my 5 miles by the 5th for Mommy Run Fast's challenge.  My ironman buddy, Lara, met me at 6:40, in the dark and cold (28 degrees) to pound out the miles.  I found S' headlamp and reflective vest and was a model runner citizen.  51:45.  Not too fast, not too slow, just right.

No one was up to take my pic.
3.  On New Year's Eve morning, I met Maureen to run 8 miles of the Fanno Creek trail, starting at Woodard Park (a place I had never heard of before she suggested it).  Turns out, it was right in the middle of our two houses.

It was a bit icy...
...but gorgeous trail.
We took it easy, walked the icy patches, stopped for a photo or two and had a great time.  8 miles around 1:30.

4.  S and I will be in Jackson tomorrow, and I'll run the Mississippi Blues Half.  We'll then fly out in the afternoon to Miami.  Why not just fly home?

S booked our non refundable hotel and return airline tickets to Miami, in November, two days before the Oregon Ducks lost to Stanford.  If the Ducks had won, they most likely would have been playing for the National Championship (in Miami) on Monday.  He booked ahead two years ago (for the Natty in AZ) and saved tons of money, as the flight prices go up closer to the game.  This year, he gambled and lost, so we go to Miami to hang out with all the Alabama fans and the Irish.  We'll be watching the game from a bar somewhere.  I guess, we saved money on game tickets, so we came out ahead overall?

5.  We used frequent flyer miles from two different sources to get all the way to Miami.  Our itinerary cracks me up, thought you might like to see it.

Friday (today) : Alaska Airlines - Portland to Seattle to Dallas/Fort Worth
American Airlines (boo!) - DFW to Jackson

Saturday: United Airlines - Jackson to Houston to Fort Lauderdale

Tuesday: Frontier Airlines - Fort Lauderdale to Denver to Portland

We're all over the place.  No problem, S and I always get along when traveling, agreeing on where to eat and how early to get to the gate, when to take a bathroom break...

Good luck if you are racing this weekend!  I hope your travels and races are a great success.

NUTS! We are burning through our AA points so we can be rid of them, they've gone downhill, not pleasant to deal with. Just wait til you see your itinerary (points tix) for St. M...
Love your running skirt/pants - I pretty much live in mine!

Boo on the long layover! Funny that you and Sarah both checked in at DFW at the same time on facebook, haha. You should meet.

I see you are on your own blogroll on the side. C'est tout à fait inacceptable et c'est même arrogant. Or it just shows that you clicked the wrong button. In any case, I'm afraid it's bumping me off your list, talk about arrogance!! Bahaha!

Have a wonderful trip!

I've never had much problem out of American before. Now, UNITED, on the other hand... they've burned us about three times. Never again will I step foot on a United flight. I'm a Southwest girl all the way! I just wish they flew to more cities. American has always been my second choice when Southwest couldn't get me there.

Seriously, if I had just hung out in DFW a LITTLE BIT LONGER we could've gotten together!

But I sort of like Alma's plan for Atlanta... I might drive up even if I don't race!
