Friday Five

1.  A survived Valentine's as a single woman.  I wanted to make a special dinner for us single ladies, but she wouldn't give me any ideas.

Ultimate Single Ladies Valentine's dinner
I decided on frozen pizza, triple chocolate cupcakes and soda.  A surprised me and brought home tea from Dutch Brothers after school.  We ate early, then she headed off to basketball practice.  I spent the evening reading my book H is for Homicide.  Romantic, huh?

2.  Yesterday, I did my first kinda sorta speedwork in months.  The plan called for 3 miles, with the middle mile being 6x45 seconds at Zone 4 pace.  I wasn't sure how long to slow down between repeats, so I chose 15 seconds.

Initially, I felt like 3 miles wasn't going to be much of a workout.  Ha!  Picking up the pace for a mile in the middle, when you barely remember how to pick up the pace, was hard.  Plus, I overdressed for 37 degrees and sunshine.  That sun warms things up fast.

I finished in 29:50, a sweaty mess.  Welcome back speed (ish).

3.  Four weeks from today, I'm traveling to Atlanta for the Georgia Publix Half Marathon (hilly state #20).  This very cool training badge popped into my email yesterday.
Why yes, yes I am training for this race!
I know it's a month away, but I'm so looking forward to running with Jess, LJ and (fingers crossed) Elizabeth.  Plenty of buddies to finish in front of me.  I'll also have a full day in Atlanta to be a tourist.

4.  Tonight is A's last home regular season basketball game.  They're ranked third in state and should draw a home playoff game in two weeks, but tonight is senior night.  A is only in 10th grade, but I'm realizing how fast she is growing up.  I don't want to miss a minute (or a game).

5.  Tomorrow, S finally comes home.  Our romantic post Valentine's movie date is all planned.  It looks like February 16th is A Good Day to Die Hard.

I prefer Bruce Willis as David Addison in Moonlighting.  Anyone else remember that TV show?

Good luck if you are racing this weekend!

Loved your dinner. I had leftover lasagna. How romantic is that?! The husband is sick so he went to bad early last night. Poor guy.

Hope that you and S have a good date this weekend!

Pizza is always an excellent choice. The H made grilled hot dogs, and then I went to bed at 9:45. So fancy. :-/.

Have a great weekend with S. Wink, wink.
