Jess isn't helping much. She's running a double this weekend, with her second race with me at the Georgia Publix Half Marathon in Atlanta on Sunday. After she completes Alabama on Saturday, she plans to keep up with me on Sunday. Whilst this is not exactly a comparison, or even a challenge, I do feel a bit of pressure. Those Atlanta hills are going to be a challenge, on fresh legs or not!
2. S hates to fly, much to my dismay. In the next few years, he needs to hit up some more states with me. As you may know, he is dreading our nonstop 5 1/2 hour flight in October to Boston (so I can knock off CT and RI in one weekend).
Yesterday, he hopped a flight that should have been a quick two hour jaunt. I texted him after I woke up, since he should have been in the air already.
He texted back right away to say that they "drove to the runway and back to the gate...maintenance".
Damn you Alaska Airlines! How am I supposed to turn him into a fun 50 state travel buddy if he has airline experiences like this one? At least you let the passengers off the plane (I guess you had to, since the plane needed to be replaced). Poor S.
3. I just set my phone alarm to go off at 1:39 today. That's right, I'm going to check in for tomorrow's Atlanta flight exactly 24 hours early... and hopefully get an amazing boarding spot on Southwest. I like that I can check in on my phone, using their app, then print the boarding pass later. I'm hoping to board in the A or B group. As you know, C is for center seat. Wish me luck!

I printed my ATL boarding pass this morning!! You see with Delta, we reserve our seat when we buy it.
I'm hoping you run reeeeeeaaaallllly SLOW in ATL so that I can dawdle too. :) Where did I get this crazy idea to run a Double? Oh, right... you.
I LOVE Southwest!! However, a 1:39 am flight? Did I read that correctly? And I thought 6:30 was too early. Hmm.....
Good luck this weekend! One day I hope to run a double too. Yeah, I go the idea for you and now from Jess. :-)
S just needs to find some good drugs so he doesn't even notice those long flights, even with delays. Valuum, or even just some benadryl.
It's 6 hours by the way, not 5-1/2!!
Good luck! Hope you have a great weekend, and have fun running with Jess!
