Race Day Heat:
Because of the projected high temperatures, runners who now want to downgrade to a shorter distance may do so free of charge.
Apparently, the Women Rock Minnesota race organizers have compassion for those of us racing this Saturday. They changed their policy (I think you should be able to downgrade at no charge no matter what the weather is, like at Eugene). How kind. The forecast is showing a high of 90 and a low of 70. I need to come up with a good survival only race strategy. Something different than in Fargo last weekend. Downgrading is not an option.
2. I talked S into letting me sneak one more race in for 2013. The Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on 11/24. I'll fly out the day before, which is S' birthday. I feel really bad about that. Really bad. Hopefully I can figure out some way to make it up to him. Oklahoma will be state #30 if all goes well this fall!
As usual, LJ will be there. But, finally, one of my local Oregon buddies is going to travel to a race with me! Maureen is planning on it too.
3. My recovery this week from the North Dakota race has been a lot easier than the brutal South Dakota downhill. I was able to run 4 miles on Monday morning. I had the energy to swim Tuesday morning. And, I should get 5 miles in today. Tomorrow is a travel day.
Let's just say I won't be planning three race weekends in a row in August again.
